As Thanksgiving and Christmas office parties inch ever closer, Boston Market is ready to help with holiday catering. “The holiday season is kind of our Super Bowl if you will,” says Maria Strickland of Boston Market. Strickland is the director of catering sales support at Boston Market and has been with the chain for 11 years. Her goal is to make catering as easy as possible.
For more than three decades, Boston Market has made holiday meals incredibly easy with their catering. With over 450 locations nationwide, the chain became famous for rotisserie chicken and other comfort food classics when Steven Kolow and Arthur Cores founded it in Massachusetts back in 1985. More than three decades later, Boston Market is still a dependable caterer, especially as the holidays arrive. “We’ve been around so long because of the quality of our food,” explains Strickland. “It’s what people wish they had time to cook.”
At this time of year, the chain focuses on seasonal holiday favorites. Boston Market can be relied on to deliver classics like freshly roasted turkey and meatloaf. Their seasonal menus also revolve around festive sides like classic mashed potatoes and gravy, savory stuffing, and sweet corn. Their toasted marshmallow-topped sweet potato casserole, gooey macaroni and cheese, and tender green beans tossed in warm garlic butter bring to mind the sort of fare an American family might dine on at home.
“It all ties into what people grew up with, and what they remember eating at their grandmother’s house, their parents’ house, or whatever traditions that they have,” Maria Strickland says. While Boston Market favorites vary among customers, most tend to make choices that are inspired by that emotional connection to certain catering dishes. It’s no wonder, then, that Boston Market’s home-style catering is the perfect antidote to the stress of planning a holiday potluck at the office.
Deliciousness aside, their catering menus are also designed to help speed up the task of planning a meal for a crowd. Their hot-buffet packages give customers a choice of main courses (chicken, turkey, meatloaf, or ribs) and sides. And they can be easily customized to feed a small or large crowd in an instant while showing how much you care. According to Strickland, Boston Market was one of the country’s first major caterers to focus on delivery and catering setup. “We’re going to bring it to you, set it up, and make it look pretty,” she says. “You won’t have to lift a finger other than to show the delivery driver where you want your food to be laid out.”
But it’s not just during the holiday season that Boston Market offers seasonal meals. Now and through the end of the year, you’ll find a seasonal roasted garlic and herb rotisserie chicken. Strickland’s favorite, the chicken marsala with sautéed cremini and portobello mushrooms, and finished with a savory wine sauce, arrives in the spring. For a change of pace, you can also rely on Boston Market to cater top-notch salads like the classic Caesar, or Southwest Santa Fe topped with fire-roasted corn, poblano pepper, black bean relish, shredded cheddar, crisp corn tortilla strips, and a tangy chipotle-cheddar dressing. Both arrive loaded with generous chunks of the chain’s famously tender rotisserie chicken, of course.
Whether you want to try something new or crave the consistency of a tried-and-true combination like chicken and green beans, Boston Market catering strikes the right balance of offering the novel and familiar. “Continuing to get the basics right consistently is essential,” says Maria Strickland. “It’s the biggest piece that keeps people happy.” And that’s really what’s most important, especially during the holidays.
