As the Company Culture and Operations Manager for Sendoso, a personalized sending platform for B2B sales professionals, Sarah Lowery has her hands full. Her role encompasses everything from the build-out of new office space to hosting company-wide bingo night. We recently sat down with Sarah to learn more about how ezCater has helped her to safely and easily feed her team.
“If it’s not covered by sales or product or design, I’m usually involved,” she said. “I’m in charge of all catering, events, parties, employee retention and engagement, and what better way to make people happy than by giving them free food!”
Sarah needed a COVID-smart way to feed employees this past year, and it was difficult to find restaurants that would individually package items. ezCater has made it much easier for Sarah to find restaurants with boxed lunches and individually packaged items to feed any size group.
“The option to have everything individually wrapped is incredible. We literally just hand the employee their boxed meal deal and we’re good to go,” she said. “The options are amazing, especially during COVID, to see what’s available.”
Sarah appreciates that at the end of a long day, she can take care of her catering orders for the week in just a few clicks, even while she is unwinding in front of the TV.
“Sometimes I place my catering orders when I am in front of the TV watching something like Law & Order: SVU. The last thing I want to do is get on the phone with a restaurant and be like, ‘No, no, no, I want it individually wrapped… no, look…’ I don’t want to do that, I want to watch Benson. I want to watch Stabler. And I want to be able to just click, click, click. And I know if there are ANY issues, somebody at ezCater is going to call me and take care of it for me.”
Sarah first discovered ezCater when she was just starting out her career as an office manager.
“I started as an office manager, bottom of the food chain, thrown into a building at a company that had six people. I had no idea how to do anything, and they were just like, ‘Well, can you get us food?’ I had just moved to Phoenix and had literally no idea what to do. So I typed in ‘catering company’ and ezCater came up,” she explained. “It was just by happenstance, but I think it’s wonderful. ezCater is great for someone that’s just starting out, or for somebody that knows the game.”
So, after using ezCater for many years and in three different cities, what is Sarah’s favorite thing to order? She loves a good burger bar and especially loves using ezCater to hire food trucks to feed her team onsite.
“A lot of our local food trucks are through you guys, which is, to me, incredible….when they deliver the food, it gives them opportunities too,” she said. “It’s a great way to use a corporate engine to really give back to the local community. That, to me, is huge.”
As things get closer to normal in the fall and their Scottsdale, AZ office can reopen, Sarah plans to continue using ezCater to show her hard-working employees some love.
“This is a big year for us. There is a lot of construction. My love language is food and when people are working seven days a week and they’re there for 12-plus hours it’s nice to do something to support them.” she said. “It’s little things like that that just make all the difference.”
