Anyone who works in human resources knows how hard it can be to find a solution that accommodates everyone in the company. But for Harpreet Basran, Vice President of Human Resources for the San Francisco 49ers, Relish by ezCater was that elusive perfect solution.

Harpreet had been on the lookout for a new food provider when the 49ers recently began a new hybrid schedule. The volume of employees now varies throughout the week, with a possible 50 people on site one day and 100 people on site the next. “With Relish I’m able to help save a lot of costs because I’m only paying for what is ordered. Previously, we were paying for a bulk order and we didn’t know how many people were going to come so we just either were wasting a lot of food or not ordering enough,” Harpreet explained. “And employees are getting a meal that they choose themselves and that they really enjoy.”
And enjoy it they do. Especially because each day provides different options to choose from, including really healthy options, she added. Each person can order something that’s not only specific to them but can also easily take into account any food allergies or specific dietary restrictions. All of which they can do without having to step outside.
“We work in Santa Clara and there are just limited food options near our stadium.” Harpreet said. “So the logistics of leaving the office, going to a place, standing in line, paying for your meal, can just be an added burden to employees. Being able to provide something to them that is delivered on site eliminates that burden and let’s them focus on their role and other things.”
Those other things include advancing to the NFC championship again this year (the second time in three years). But Harpreet added that the culture at the 49ers really drives from the fact that they are a family owned business. So when switching to ezCater made it possible to give back to the community, they were thrilled.
“We have a team of talented, caring, very professional employees and we’re really setting the standard in our industry,” she said. “Now we are able to support local owned businesses that we weren’t able to support before, and a lot of these minority owned businesses could really use the help. So being able to support them has also made it easier and a little bit better for our employees to want to participate in Relish.”
