At ezCater, we’re inspired by chefs and restaurant operators who take their passion for food and catering and turn it into a career. As a partner who helps them build their catering business, we’re proud to share their stories with you. This is Mario Johnson’s Restaurant Roots.
When Mario Johnson was a child, he used to sit on a stool and watch his grandmother cook. Her deeply flavorful recipes eventually formed the blueprint for the catering business of his dreams. At 15, he began teasing out the concept for what would later become Grandma’s House Catering, located in Hawthorne, California, near sunny Los Angeles.
At Grandma’s House Catering, Mario salutes the rich, heavily spiced food that his grandmother cooked. Mario calls this food “Americana,” a mix of Texas barbecue classics and New Orleans gems like jambalaya and rich gumbo. All throughout his catering menu, you’ll find his grandmother’s addictive food. This is the story behind Mario Johnson’s Grandma’s House Catering.
