Known for its modern spin on Mediterranean food, Zoes Kitchen specializes in dishes that are delicious and heart-healthy. Made from fresh, natural ingredients, it’s the kind of food that keeps people coming back, for as one loyal customer put it, “you can never go wrong with Zoes Kitchen.”
The most popular boxed lunch is the Chicken Kabob, but there are many vegan and gluten free options as well. Their menu also features rice and grain bowls, salads, and a house-made hibiscus tea. If anyone in the office has a sweet tooth, don’t forget to order a slice of their famous Yaya’s chocolate cake.
2. Ri Ra Sandwich Bar
When it comes to lunch, sometimes there is nothing better than a really good sandwich. If that’s what the office is craving, Ri Ra Sandwich Bar has got you covered. Using only clean label deli meats, locally sourced produce, and fresh bread that is baked daily, the quality is always top notch and the food fresh and delicious.
As you’d suspect from a restaurant with the word “sandwich” in its title, the top item from Ri Ra is their Sandwich Boxed Lunch, which offers five different options, from the Italian to the Veggie, and comes with chips. They also offer a Salad Box that comes with soda bread and butter, and features four different varieties, from Mixed Green to Cobb Salad.

3. On The Border
What happens when you get three friends who have a passion for border-style food together? A restaurant that specializes in mesquite grilled meats, hand pressed tortillas, small batch sauces and chips as big as your head.
Among the favorites from this local favorite are the Fajita Steak Burrito Box and Fajita Chicken Burrito Box. But there is no shortage of options, from tacos, enchiladas, and chimichangas, to Tex-Mex combos and salads. Chips and salsa are also available, as well as guacamole and On The Border’s signature queso. If group meals are more your thing, they have taco and nacho bars, among other options, that serve up to eight people, and trays of Mexican pastries for dessert.
4. First Watch
Named after the nautical term that means first shift of the day, First Watch has a dedicated staff that is up at the crack of dawn preparing traditional breakfasts and lunchtime favorites for the hungry people of Charlotte. Voted best “Power Breakfast” by Sarasota Magazine, their lunchtime options are just as robust.
The No. 1 lunchtime preference is for their 2-For-You Box, which lets customers select two options among a dozen choices, including sandwich halves, soups and salads.
You can also feel good about eating at First Watch not just because of their fresh ingredients, but because they are devoted to the humane treatment of animals, using only cage-free eggs and working with their suppliers to initiate change and enhance the living conditions of their supply of broiler chickens.
5. True Crafted Catering
A locally owned catering company, True Crafted Catering has been offering hearty lunches and specialty items to the greater Charlotte area since 2013. Featuring flavorsome sandwiches and salads, their menu also includes pasta dishes, from rigatoni to spaghetti and meatballs.
At the top of most people’s list is their Boxed Sandwich option, their No. 1 lunchtime seller. The sandwiches range from turkey to caprese to grilled vegetable and each box includes chips, a pickle and a side. The portions are big, so there might be leftovers, but, as Christina from Charlotte put it, they likely won’t last long. “We had some leftover boxes and people were hoarding them for themselves for the next day.”
