1. Brisket Bar B.Q.
As you’d expect, the brisket at Brisket Bar B. Q. in Bellaire is a standout offering, smoked in a BBQ pit for 18 hours over hickory. But brisket isn’t the only reason to choose this family-owned local institution. Their loaded baked potatoes also get raves, with butter, sour cream, chives, cheese and bacon and (naturally) an option for brisket, in case you want your loaded baked potato to be truly, madly, deeply loaded. Their specialty is a delicious-sounding Western Po-Boy, with chopped beef and sausage layered with beans and topped with cheese and BBQ sauce. The expansive menu goes beyond traditional barbecue to offer healthier options like salads and grilled chicken, as well as burgers and fries, so you’ll be able to find something to suit everyone’s palate. Last but not least, the prices are reasonable and they package everything individually so you can feel confident about food safety.

3. Otto’s Bar B Que & Hamburgers Downtown
Otto’s origin story is pretty unusual for a restaurant: Otto and Annie Sofka opened a grocery store in 1951, but it wasn’t long until “Ms. Annie” began grilling burgers and making sandwiches for customers. Soon the lines were out the door, barbeque was added to the menu and the grocery store had completed its metamorphosis into a restaurant. A lot has changed since 1951, but the barbeque is still pit-smoked for 18 hours over hickory wood and the angus burgers are still ground fresh every day. Otto’s boxed lunches are a great COVID-safe way to order for a group, and they are more than happy to work with people looking to order individually packaged food beyond their standard box lunch options.

4. RG Grill
RG Grill has been serving Houston for the past 18 years, featuring cuisines from many cultures – everything from pitas to gyros to burgers to tacos – and they do it all well. The chicken poblano is a fan favorite to judge by the many reviews giving it a shout-out, and with a creamy poblano sauce on grilled chicken and sautéed corn, tomatoes and black beans, you can see why. The breakfast tacos are another popular choice, with choose-your-own fillings that include eggs, potatoes, cheese, bacon and sausage. Everything on their menu is available individually packed. And you get $25 off your first catering order when you place it through ezCater!
5. The ‘401 Table & Tap
The ‘401 Table and Tap’s focus is on healthy, delicious food, with a broad range of options available in individually packaged portions, from a classic box lunch to per-person kebabs. Speaking of their kebabs, they get a lot of love in our reviews and they are scrumptious: skewers of all-natural grilled chicken, tenderloin beef, or a combination of both – what’s not to like? For those who are looking for non-meat options, the green salads and salad bowls are customizable and include optional extras like veggie quinoa cakes and tofu – and those are just some of the many vegetarian options that are available individually packaged; there’s also a whole menu section on boxed lunches.
